[logo development & branding]
Jules, a local photographer, was in need of a fun, but professional logo that better reflected her colorful and off-beat style of portrait photography. Coming into the project, Jules already had a strong vision for her logo. She knew she wanted something that had a handmade feel to it and included a star. After a round of moodboards I explored two different styles–a y2k-inspired ink bleed style and a thick handwritten style. The final logo leans into the ink bleed style.
Moodboards and initial logo comps
The final logo uses an extended and rectangular sans-serif typeface that gives off a y2k-inspired vibe. The star that Jules requested is cut into the square-shaped letter “o,” playing on the look of a camera flash. Tight kerning, custom ink bleed effects, and weathered textures give the logo the perfect grungy look that brings it all together. The color palette, edgy but girly, uses black, hot pink, white, and a dusty light pink. The finished logo oozes cool and punches you in the face with attitude.
